Indian soap nuts are an environmentally friendly, renewable, natural product. The Asian soap nut tree bears its first fruits after about ten years. These can then be harvested once a year for about 90 years. The cultivation of soap nut trees is supported by the Indian Forest Ministry because of the positive ecological balance they provide. Soap nuts are 100% biodegradable and easily disposable with organic waste or compost after use. Effect of the soap nut: The active ingredient saponin contained in the shell of the soap nut has excellent cleansing characteristics as well as an antibacterial effect. When in contact with warm water, this yields a mild detergent lye. In Asia, soap nut shells have been used as a natural detergent and cleaning agent for centuries owing to their strong cleansing action. Ecological - inexpensive - economical: Washing with soap nut shells is not only ecological but also inexpensive: In the low-temperature range, the same shells can be used 2-3 times. Therefore a 250g package is sufficient for at least 3 months with 2-3 washes per week!
